1. Introduction

This document is intended to describe the OCKHAM Harvest-to-Query Service. The Harvest-to-Query Service (hereby known as H2Q in the rest of this document) provides any OAI-PMH compliant repository with the ability to extend access to their metadata via standard library query interfaces, such as Z39.50. This ability will afford greater access to OAI-PMH repositories by the general library community, and extend the ability of these repositories in other communities as well.
